Home. It’s the place you go to escape from the hectic world outside. It’s the place where you can relax, be yourself, and create the memories that make up the fabric of your life.
If you’re like most people then you’re going to spend over half of your life in your home. It stands to reason that any place you spend so much time in should improve the quality of your life, rather than drag it down.
Imagine living in a home where you can control the heat, the lights, or the curtains using text messaging or email. It’s a home you can run completely while you are away on a vacation or business trip, a home you rarely have to dust, where the air inside is cleaner and fresher than the air outside, and where the indoor environment is so healthy that those small irritations like dry skin due to low humidity and other discomforts seem to be a thing of the past.
It’s a home that is constantly watching out for you and your family, maintaining a healthy environment for everyone that lives there. If you’re throwing a party then you can clear the air with a flick of a switch, making hot, stuffy rooms a thing of the past for your guests. A home like this means healthy air for your kids to breathe, and an environment that is constantly fresh and inviting. In a home like this, you’d be healthier and have a better quality of life.
It sounds like a home of the future to most people, but it’s this vision that inspired us to start building Green Homes. Our homes are smart, clean, elegant, affordable, and most of all, sustainable. Welcome to the future.
About Us Page Copy
“Our problems are manmade; therefore they can be solved by man.”
-John F. Kennedy
We thrive on solving problems. The problem we’re facing right now with global warming is one that affects all of us, no matter what society we live in. It’s a problem that has hit home with us because it’s one that can be solved starting on an individual level.
We knew that there was room for improvement in the homebuilding process, and we wanted to create homes that work with the environment instead of against it. We began to see that with Low to Zero Carbon Homes we could create a living space that was clean, sustainable, and most of all, affordable for people to live in.
Our homes don’t add to the problems we’re facing with the environment, they help alleviate them. And that’s something that makes our quest for innovating ideas even more exciting.
When most people think of “eco-friendly” homes, they imagine having to give up their quality of life in order to help the environment. With our homes, the quality of your life improves, not goes down. They’re beautiful, artistic spaces that lift up your spirits. It’s living on an entirely different level than you’re used to, and you’ll be amazed at how effortless it is.
Our vision is to create homes that are sophisticated, that people can be proud to live in and proud to show off to their friends and family. Our goal is to meld art and science together to create homes that are as smart as they are stylish.
This is our mission. It’s who we are, and why we get up in the morning. We want to take your vision and make it happen with a home that’s sustainable and effortless to live in. We want your imagination to soar when you work with us, and our commitment is to give you a high quality, modern home that won’t cost an arm and a leg.
Our goal is to make the world a better place to live in, one home at a time.
Why Choose Us Page Copy
There are plenty of people out there that can build you a home. With us, however, you get a truly unique building experience.
When we started our company we knew that there had to be a better way to construct homes. It just didn’t make sense to us that the places we live in are built in the middle of a field, subjected to pouring rain, wind, mud, and snow for weeks at a time. After all, we figured, your car isn’t made in the middle of a field, so why should you accept that your home be built this way?
We could have gone with the status quo and played it safe, but that didn’t sit well with us either. We decided that instead, we’d just raise the bar.
We begin building your home piece by piece indoors, in a setting that is clean and controlled. When your home is constructed at the site it’s put up one completed wall at a time. Electric circuits, the home automation backbone, plumbing, and painting are all completed beforehand in a factory-quality setting. Your home goes up in days, not months, and it’s not subjected to the harsh elements like most other homes.
What does this mean for you? It means that your home’s quality is higher because it’s not created in the middle of the dirt and grime at a traditional site. It doesn’t suffer from being out in the rain and snow for months at a time. It means that it’s a cleaner, healthier, and an all around better home for you and your family.
Another great thing about our system is that it’s extremely efficient. At a traditional jobsite there are subcontractors stepping all over each other, which can lead to mistakes, which leads to delays, and in the end you’re left with a home that’s not put together as well as it could be. With us, those mistakes are not an issue. When our homes are put together they fit perfectly, and there’s no “tweaking” that has to happen.
It’s pretty revolutionary when you think about it.
We also provide extremely personal service to our clients. We’re not a large firm, so you get that personal attention that’s so often lacking everywhere else. Our goal is to get to know you and your vision, not shuffle you off to an expeditor who will handle you like you’re on an assembly line. We’re small, flexible, and innovative, and we don’t ever forget that it’s your dream we’re building.
Another aspect that sets us apart is the fact that we invested in technology that will enable you to see your home in 3-D while you’re still at the planning stage. We can walk you through your new home room by room, and it never fails to amaze and excite our clients to see their vision come to life. You dream it, and then we create it. But rather than going in blind like most builds, with us you can see it in amazing detail before we get started.
If you know what you want but are having some trouble getting started, we offer all of our clients a Designs For Living catalog, which features many different styles you may find useful as you get started with your planning and dreaming.
Why are we different? Because with us you get the attention you deserve and the chance to let your imagination soar.
What We Do Page Copy
Whether you want us to build your first home or you’re a seasoned pro who is ready to self-build, we work with people who are at all stages in the building process.
Although our clients come to us with different visions and different levels of experience, they all have one thing in common: they want a unique, affordable, sustainable home.
We use the very latest technology in our homes, and it doesn’t take a deep pocketbook to get a home that saves you money instead of wasting it. We offer plenty of options to pick from, which allows you to choose the features you want and leave off the ones you don’t.
Some of the features that are available:
• Energy Storage
When winter sets in we all start feeling the pinch of higher heating costs. In our homes, a cutting edge gel stores the energy from your heat pump overnight using cheap rate electricity, which saves you money every month on your heating bill.
• Hot Water Recovery
This system uses the pre-heated water that would normally go down the drain to heat your hot water tank. What does this mean? It means that your hot water is “stretched” further, saving you money each month on your energy bill.
• Comfort Cooling
This system uses passive cooling from your heat pump to cool your home during the summer months. Instead of paying outrageous electric bills to run your air conditioning, this system will cost you less than 5 pence a day. This means no more hot sweaty nights, all for the cost of a kid’s chocolate bar.
• Wind or Solar PV Panels
The addition of wind or solar panels to your home means that you could go totally green, making fuel bills a thing of the past. Wind and solar are a Zero Carbon way to supplement your home’s energy needs.
• Grey and Rainwater Systems
Water is a precious resource, and it’s getting scarcer as the years go by. Having a grey water and rainwater recovery system means that you can wash your car and have a beautiful garden when everyone else is suffering from the hosepipe ban.
These are only a few examples of the amazing features we put into our homes. As you can see, our homes can enable you to start saving money immediately on your energy bills, or even eliminate them entirely.
They’re also designed with everyone in mind, meaning that just like a car you can start at the beginning and work your way up to all the bells and whistles. Our standard homes are several steps above traditional stick built homes, and come with underfloor heating. They’re extremely well insulated and even our starter home beats all the building regulations that are out there.
These are the homes everyone is going to want soon as energy and water become increasingly stretched in our society.
